Colorado Division of Housing (CDOH), Strategic Housing Working Group and Governor’s Office Special Eviction Prevention Task Force

Throughout 2020 and 2021, Root was the lead facilitator for a Strategic Housing Working Group (SHWG), convened to recommend policy initiatives and programmatic responses to address growing housing needs in Colorado. Root’s role was to prepare meeting agendas, convene policy subgroups and facilitate subgroup meetings, develop discussion agendas, conduct follow up research, and provide support for a series of “white papers” on policy recommendations provided to the State Housing Board.

Topic areas explore by the SHWG were largely determined by the footwork conducted by CDOH during the 2019 Stakeholder Outreach and the Governor’s Office Special Eviction Prevention Task Force recommendations. Root Policy was engaged to facilitate the Governor’s Office Special Eviction Prevention Task Force during the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought together diverse interests to recommend policies that balanced renters’ and industry’s needs.
