Project Description

We conducted a child care economic impact study in San Miguel County and the Town of Telluride. The study involved a survey of parents who use formal child care, a survey of child care providers, and the creation of a model to determine the financial importance of the child care industry in this mountain county. Our executive summary was designed as a two-page “leave behind” that communicated the benefits of child care to residents and was directed toward supporting a proposed mill levy increase to fund child care services.

FUN FACT

If child care were not available in the County, in 42 percent of the households, at least one household member would need to exit the workforce.
