Project Description

This project, for the Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD), examined the incidence of predatory discriminatory lending in Colorado. The study was part of a large HUD-funded grant competitively awarded to six states. By conducting a comprehensive analysis of mortgage transactions, we identified hotbeds of high-cost lending and identified disparities in high-cost lending by race, ethnicity, and income. We also conducted surveys of households at-risk of foreclosure to identify predatory and potentially discriminatory lending practices. Our study culminated in a press conference with Colorado’s Governor Ritter during Fair Housing Month.

Year: 2007

Unique aspects of this study
